The MQK40 is now in the UK. MiMA’s 4-tonne multi-directional counterbalanced forklift brings true three-wheel drive, an 80V lithium pack and a mast design built for real-world long-load operations.
It’s built on the proven MQK platform and brings a significant step up in capability compared to what has come before.
Capacity and power

The MQK40 is rated at 4,000kg at a 600mm load centre. That’s genuinely heavy long-load capability without any compromise on manoeuvrability. Power comes from an 80V / 600Ah lithium pack that delivers consistent output across the full shift. No fade as the battery depletes. What the truck does at 8am, it still does at 4pm.
Drive system
The headline engineering change is true three-wheel drive. Most multi-directional trucks at this capacity rely on two driven wheels, which creates power loss at the rear and tracking problems on uneven or slippery ground. On the MQK40, all three wheels are driven. Better traction, better straight-line tracking, more control under load.
The steering has also been redesigned. A new redundancy algorithm delivers faster directional response and a tighter turning radius than the previous generation. Less space needed to reposition. More throughput per shift.
Visibility

MiMA has developed a two-stage-vision triplex mast for this truck. The outer profile is no wider than a conventional two-stage mast, but it delivers unobstructed 360-degree visibility for the operator. The overhead guard cross-section has also been reduced by 18%, giving significantly better upward visibility when working at height. For anyone stacking long materials in confined spaces, both of these changes make a practical difference to safety and operating confidence.
Ergonomics and operator comfort
This is an area where the MQK40 has been thoroughly thought through. The entry step is 15% larger and the floor plate 22% wider, so operators get in and out cleanly without grabbing handrails. Over a full shift, that reduces fatigue and the risk of slip injuries. The redesigned seat is built for long days, and the right-side console integrates an armrest, joystick and switches into a single unit for true one-hand operation.
For operations in cold stores, dusty environments or outdoor yards, the optional fully enclosed cab with heater and fan keeps operators productive regardless of conditions. Less absenteeism risk. More consistent uptime.
Reliability and serviceability
The MQK40 uses a Curtis dual-motor controller with a distributed layout, keeping controllers, motors and contactors separate. Operating temperature drops by 30% as a result. Lower heat means longer component life and fewer unplanned breakdowns.
The hydraulic reservoir is side-mounted and bottom-placed for easier inspection and cooler running oil temperature, reducing hydraulic wear and maintenance costs over the truck’s working life.
For engineers, near-universal external access to electrical components cuts installation and maintenance time by 40%. Trucks get back into operation faster. Labour cost per job comes down.

The dealer case
This is a truck that answers a specific question: what do you sell a customer who needs 4-tonne multi-directional capability but doesn’t want an ageing, over-priced OEM solution with margin squeezed out of both ends of the deal?
The MQK40 is specification-led, proven on 80V lithium, and available through MiMA Forklifts UK now. The opportunity for dealers who move early is clear.
